It is important to get the right amount of protein every day, especially if you have celiac or inflammatory bowel disease. To figure out how many grams per day you need of protein, do the following calculation: Take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2.2. Then, take that number and multiply it by 0.8 to 1.8. That will give you how many grams of protein you need per day. If you are not active at all, have a desk job... multiply it by 0.8. Multiply it closer to the 1.8 if you are a runner, exercise a lot, lift weights, are pregnant, or recovering from an illness. If you are inbetween, slightly active, multiple it by about 1.3. There are many sources of good protein and it is not just in meat, contrary to popular belief. Other good sources of protein are mozzarella, pumpkin, squash, and almonds. Increase protein and make it nearly 50% of your dietary intake and you will feel full of energy :)
