It is really important to understand that the relationship has to first develop in general before the true levels of connection can develop. E.g. Working on shoulder in or half pass or the refinements of dressage moves or riding down a busy road are probably best left until after the general relationship and communication of the relationship has been created between horse and human. The establishment of a good relationship can be built upon riding and handling with more relaxed activities first, with a less defined accuracy that build confidence in the animal before asking for more performance or precision.
