It is very disheartening when people say such things as say the pledge or leave the country. Where then should Jehovah Witnesses, worldwide, reside? We dont pledge allegiance to any country. It doesnt matter where we were geographically born. It doesnt matter in which country we currently reside. The only Kingdom (Government) we pledge allegiance to is Jehovah Gods Kingdom with Jesus Christ now ruling as king in heaven. We await the time when Gods will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10 KJV) We patiently wait for the future time when the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:11) Until then, we disrespect no human government. Yet, our stance is firm. 2 Corinthians 5:20 makes reference to, ambassadors substituting for Christ. Because ambassadors represent a foreign sovereign or state, they do not interfere in the internal affairs of the countries where they serve; they remain neutral. Ambassadors do, however, advocate the government of the country they represent. Jehovahs Witnesses advocate only for Gods Kingdom (Government) and no other. Nevertheless, Jesus warned his followers: If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. (John 15:19) Jesus continued in verse 20 by saying, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. (John 15:20) The negative attitude of many people today towards Jehovahs Witnesses demonstrates the truth of Jesus words.
