It is widely recognized that Rembrandt was able to capture the soul in his brilliant portraits. This quality is easily recognized because we are familiar with the life energy and gesture of the human face. When we see a painted portrait that conveys the personality and mood of its subject, its immediately apparent. People who have a passion for birds also know them to a point where we can absolutely assign specific character and personality to familiar species. When a painter is able to capture these elements in their bird portraits, then they prove that their skill in doing so is no less significant than in human portraits. I requires a life long commitment to getting to know the creatures, and above average skill in knowing how to draw and paint them. It is my pleasure to nominate Dale Dyer as the next artist to take on the 5 day challenge. Im a huge fan of his work. He is an accomplished portrait artist, incredible painter, and brilliant bird illustrator. There are very few of us trying to make a living painting birds, and even fewer who actually can do it well.
