It is with a broken heart we share that in spite of all of the love and prayers that came to him from across the country and around the world, that we had to let Bitzlen follow his calling to the other side of the bridge this afternoon. The condition of his bladder was even worse than was anticipated with most of the tissue being completely dead and as much as it broke our hearts, there was nothing more that could be done for him. Because of rescue, Blitzen did not cross alone, and he did not cross on the streets injured and afraid, he crossed in love which is the greatest gift that rescue can give. He received love, care, compassion, and generosity from the DRSF family who answered our call for his care and for all the amazing Vets and Vet Techs who went above and beyond to make him as comfortable as possible and provided us updates, texts, photos, calls, and loved him like he was a member of thier family. ...And most beautiful and bittersweet, he crossed after a loving vist from the family he had known, who had been with him from the first day he came to DRSF as Foster Mom Pam and Foster Sister Iyanna visited with him prior to surgery as well to give him their love.
