It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are closing our doors. It was a dream of ours to own our own local Maid-Rite. It was even more special given that I grew up on Maid-Rite like so many of our customers who also share fond memories of days gone by. However, the many challenges we face are beyond our control and have forced us in to this position. Our team and many repeat customers have become family over the past 18 months; all of us have shared many special moments and laughs together. We want to thank our team for their dedication, trust and hard work. Knowing they no longer have a job was particularly hard on Brendan and me. We recognize we are only as good as the larger team and everyone gave it their all. We also want to extend a very special thank you to those who continued to support us and who brought so many of their own friends and family through our doors to help build on the Maid-Rite tradition. We share a collective experience. Words cannot express our gratitude. In the future, if your travels take you down an old highway through rural Iowa, Illinois or Missouri and you stumble upon a classic old-time Maid-Rite with a faded sign, stop in and experience a slice of Americana. You will be fortunate enough to experience what our dream was intended to have become here in our hometown. The days are numbered in the world of large chains, big marketing, instant satisfaction and pre-packaging. This will be our last full week of business. If you have gift certificates or still want to experience a Maid-Rite here locally, stop on by while you can. Lastly, as we approach the holidays this year, let’s all focus on what unites us verses what makes us different. Just think of what could be accomplished! Peace to you and your family.
