It is with a very heavy heart that I write this and share the news of the death of a young pediatric occupational therapist who recently finished school and started working as an OT for kids in kindergartens. Her name was Dalya Lemkus (of blessed memory), she was 26 years old, and she was stabbed to death by a terrorist yesterday in Israel as she was waiting for a bus to get home from work. She was a wonderful young woman, who not only worked as an OT but was one of the primary volunteers with an organization to lend out medical supplies. This is a tragic loss to her family, country, and the occupational therapy community (specifically the pediatric community). May her family be comforted and know no more sorrow.
