It is with a very heavy heart we report to you that one of our most beloved and asked about patient Joe has passed away. Joe came in June 11th with an impaction and severe injuries from multiple boat strikes including one across the skull. We had made a lot of great progress with Joe and had cleared his impaction but unfortunely the damage to his brain was much more extensive then we thought and he lost his battle to live on Friday. As much as we love sharing our triumphs with you we also feel it is important to inform you on the tragic stories like Joes because it could have been avoided if the boaters had just paid more attention and slowed down their boat. It is up to each and everyone of us to ensure the safety of animals that can not do it on their own. Joes story is indeed tragic but does not have to be in vain. We now have over 29,000 followers, a turtle hero army. If each one of you tells Joes story to just one person and that causes them use more caution while boating we can make a huge impact for all marine animals. Please help us spread Joes story and save marine animals that may suffer the same fate.
