It is with an extremely heavy heart that I tell you that I learned that my great friend and legendary Omaha lawyer Emil Sodoro passed away early this morning. He was one of the finest men I ever knew. He was one of the most loving of husbands and fathers, and so rightly proud of all of his children. He was a man of deep Catholic faith. A 1951 graduate of Creighton Law School, he built a successful law practice that became the well-known firm of Sodoro, Daly and Sodoro. In the 1970s he successfully argued to the U.S. Supreme Court the Owen v. Kroger case, which is still one of the foundations of modern federal jurisdiction law. I have often had my students listen to the oral argument as Emils well-constructed argument became the foundation of the Supreme Courts majority opinion. Seldom have I felt the loss of a friend more intensely.
