It is with heavy heart that I share that American photojournalist James Foley has been reportedly executed by the extremist group ISIS today. Having worked as a photographer in conflict zones around the world as Foley had I can personally attest to the great risk all of these journalists take attempting to tell the story of our world, to the world. James should not be remembered by the current video, or frame grabs from that video. We should not allow those images to blur all the beautiful images that show us who James is; his sly grins and big smiles. Those are the real moments that tell us about who James’ really was – a man you loved life, who had a deep passion to make much of the lives of others, rather than making much of himself.
