It is with regret that I have to inform you of the passing of Charles Drought, Merchant Navy, Senior 3rd Engineer on SS Atlantic Conveyor. Charles passed away today aged 76 after a short illness with his two sons Gareth and Christopher at his bedside. Charles was one of those rescued by the ships company of HMS Alacrity and always spoke very highly of their seamanship and hospitality. Charles retired in 1996 after 38 years at sea. R.I.P. Charles
