It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce that First Presbyterian Preschool will not be opening this year or in the foreseeable future. Our board and the church session came to this tough decision with prayerful consideration of all factors involved. Unfortunately, our unprecedented and unexpected low enrollment for the upcoming school year just did not support even our basic financial needs. Since the economy took a significant dive several years ago, each year has been a question mark. This closure is through no fault of the staff, board, session, preschool families or friends. This is a beautiful 35 year old mission that has come to its end. We had a fabulous year last school year. It is a blessing for us to go out with a successful year. However, this makes the news harder to hear. My heart is broken. Yours may be too. However, God has a plan for us all. Our hearts will mend. We will remember the sweet memories of magic ropes on 3rd Street and children walking quietly in the halls and yelling loudly on the playground. Know that in whatever way you touched the preschool, you touched the future of our community. For that all God’s people should shout a joyous, Amen!
