It is yet again time for my annual Memorial Day message. I will be flying on Monday, going to Russia on a job, so Im posting this today, in the event I get too busy on Monday. There are always two quotes that stick in my mind when I think about this day: A veteran is a man who, at some time in his life, wrote a blank check to the American People for any amount up to and including his life (Unknown). We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm (George Orwell). For many of us, Memorial Day Weekend is a 3 day weekend, time to go to the beach, burn steaks, drink beer, get a snoot-full and act a fool. A whole lot dont give it any thought, much past that. All thats fine, but before the party gets completely out of hand, take the time to have a respectful moment of silence, and hoist a glass, and give a silent thanks to those rough men who answered the call, went the full distance, gave the full measure, and crossed over Jordan when that blank check cashed for the full amount. RIP Brothers, I miss you, see you in the Assembly Area (youll understand if Im not in a big hurry to get there just yet, right?). Thank you and Happy Memorial Day.
