It makes me feel just a wee bit better when the tech from Comcast - TopicsExpress

It makes me feel just a wee bit better when the tech from Comcast comes to replace the box and he introduces himself politely, and proceeds to tell me that he was sent out to recover an overheated unit and I tell him it didnt overheat, it caught on fire and he gives me the agree with the crazy lady head nod and smile and then proceeds to follow me to the tv room where he picks up the box and says, without thinking, Oh shit, it really did catch on fire. They just told me that you were over exaggerating and probably felt the heat from the unit being on. Im going to take this directly to the supervisor so they can see that the box really did catch on fire. Ive never seen this before. They really owe you an apology. He replaced the box and the power cords and ran a diagnostic. Everything showed up as normal, but I did tell him that this was the 4th or 5th box since August and the other ones overheated, but shut down completely while this was the only one to catch on fire. He checked the lines outside, but he asked if they used different power cords each time of if they used the same one. I honestly didnt know. But I dont ever recall them ever bringing in anything except a box. He went out to the van and got a new power cord and replaced the other one. The old one looked fine, but who knows? He also pointed out that I was lucky that my box was on top of a table and not inside of a entertainment center because then the entire outcome could have been a lot worse. Did learn, however, that that particular box does not have a cooling fan inside of it and has a hard drive built in so it is why its got a cage like design so that it doesnt *cough* overheat. Good to know that the crazy lady is confirmed normal after all.
