It occurs to me, that the major problem in Government and the Country as a whole is the inherent divisiveness of the two party system, or at least what we have allowed it to become. The extreme left demonizes the right as money-grubbing heartless bastards, while the extreme right minimizes the left as bleeding heart socialist idiots. While this may actually be true at either of the far ends of the political spectrum it is certain that most fall toward the middle. (the bell curve works.) Unfortunately, the moderates of either ideology find themselves in an untenable political position if they dare break from the herd to espouse a moderate position as they are quickly reined back in by accusations of not supporting their ”parties ideals”. What needs to happen to restore the functionality of our Representitive Constitutional Republic and No, We are NOT a Democracy(defined as two wolves and a lamb arguing over whats for lunch) is this: 1. Those we have elected to represent us need to Remember what they are there for which is to represent OUR interests and NOT the extreme interests of each ideology. 2. When performing the legislative function: a. Use a Conservative and strict interpetation of the Constitution as written when it comes to the power, function, and responsibility of the Government. b. Use a Liberal interpetation of the Constitution as written as it pettains to Personal Liberties and the Bill of Rights. c. Remind the Supreme Court that their function is NOT to Legislate but to ensure that the Legislation enacted by the House and Senate adhere to the above guidelines. There is no room for party politics in the court. That is why their symbol is a blind justice holding a balance. So, any thoughts?
