It only takes a tiny seed to fuel and revolution... Although most of our initial mother block will come from genetic cloning by way of cuttings that have existed in the US for numerous years, we are also collecting some new genetics through the form of seed... In camellias, and most plants in general, the seed will be the combination of genetic material from the two parent plants so you get a new cultivar every time. When you take a cutting, you get the exact plant that you made the cutting from. Since we have limited genetic material here in the US, we have started collecting seeds from various regions around the world. This particular seed came from India... We also have seed from Hungary, Cyprus, Sochi, China, and seed claimed to be from Oregon, but we are not sure of the validity of the claim in Oregon.... We will also be purchasing a maund (20Kg) of premium seed from India in the fall, we hope...
