Based on a true story, this mass movement of topless women, armed with First Amendment lawyers, graffiti installations and national publicity stunts, invade New York City to protest the backwards censorship laws in the US. What is more obscene: violence or a nipple? We just completed shooting and editing the film, and are now in the last stages of post-production, before we embark upon the film festival circuit. freethenipple Meet the cast: As far as the film, we got so lucky with an amazing cast of actors who are also all hardcore activists in real life. Monique Coleman, who played Taylor McKessie in High School Musical 1, 2, and 3, was one of the first to come on board. Stand up comic and actress Janeane Garofalo from Saturday Night Live, The Larry Sanders Show, and such movies as Ratatouille, Half Baked, and Reality Bites, joined the revolution soon thereafter. Activist and actress Casey La Bow from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One and Two, and newcomer Lola Kirke, who is starring in David Finchers next film Gone Girl.Inline image 1 Meet Lina Esco: Her first acting gig was in 2005 in the acclaimed indie film, London, starring Jessica Biel, Chris Evans and Jason Statham. She then went on to play Jimmy Smits daughter in the controversial CBS series Cane (2007). She was then cast in the international coming-of-age > film, LOL (2011) starring alongside Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. After LOL, she was hired by Antoine Fuqua to co-star with Ethan Hawke in Antoines first pilot, Exit Strategy for Fox-TV. Lina produced and directed PSAs for the Academy Award-winning Best Documentary of 2009, The Cove, entitled, My Friend is... to bring awareness to the annual slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. In 2012 Lina finally stepped up to direct and star in her first feature film FREE THE NIPPLE based on a true story of two women who start a revolution to reverse the backwards censorship laws in America. Lina Esco currently resides in Los Angeles.
