It seems a lot of the festival mainstage icons are rejecting the youthful - and somewhat overdone and worn out by now - EDM sound? In the last few weeks, we’ve heard mixes from Kaskade (who returned to his house roots on his tour recently – so far as to ask his young fans if ‘they’re still waiting for the drop?’), Sydney Blu (often predictable with her sound – usually the beatport top 20) compile, mix, and heavily promote both a deep house and tech house mix, and now Tiesto launches his Club Life Afterhours – a show dedicated to real house music. We can only hope this means that the music that has spoken to us on an incomprehensible level for countless years will attract broader interest, win over the EDM generation as their taste matures, and foster another golden age of creativity.
