It seems as if we can’t enjoy any innocent, traditional fun anymore without someone protesting that it’s not politically correct. Even Macy’s is having to deal with controversy over its Thanksgiving parade floats. The animal rights group PETA is bent out of shape because one of the floats represents Sea World, which they accuse of cruelty to whales. Meanwhile, from the other side of the animal rights divide, rocker Joan Jett was moved from a float honoring South Dakota, because she’s a vegan and PETA member, and that doesn’t sit well with South Dakota ranchers. I’m still waiting for someone to throw a hissy fit because the cast of “Duck Dynasty” is set to appear on a float. Personally, I think people should just chill out, put all the politics aside for one day, and just be grateful if the “Duck Dynasty” guys don’t shoot down the Woody Woodpecker balloon and field dress it.
