It seems as though when people talk about supporting local music, theyre only referring to themselves or a small niche of music that they deem relevant. A music scene cannot be built, not thrive on one genre. All of the truly great, unique bands come from diverse music scenes with a general sense of unity and a broad scope of acceptance. I remember going to shows as a teenager and seeing metal, hardcore, indie, acoustic, emo, punk, and every sub-genre of bands in between playing together and supporting one another.
