It seems clear to me that we dont live nearly long enough as humans. As technology advances, it becomes painfully obviously that it doesnt advance nearly fast enough and that if we had longer lives, we wouldnt have to engage in the information-costly act of passing on what weve learned. Try to guess, even through books, journals and studies, how much info is lost in translation. We cant ever really teach another everything that we know and every time we try, there is a whole lot that is lost along the way. If we lived, say, 200 years, IMAGINE what one person could learn, accomplish and teach. I bet our growths exponential progress would be much further along at this point in time. I learned today that a galaxy, 50 million light years away, has a huge black hole in the center of it and the entire galaxy is slowly being sucked into it, destined for certain destruction. (forbes/sites/alexknapp/2014/09/18/astronomers-find-a-supermassive-black-hole-in-a-tiny-galaxy/) By the time we can see the light reflected off their galaxy. 50 million years have passed and every sun, planet, life from of that galaxy are 50 million years closer to being sucked into the coldest scariest part of space and there is absolutely nothing we can do except stand back and take REALLY out-dated polaroids.
