It seems that CD has reappeared in the US and Australia, and there - TopicsExpress

It seems that CD has reappeared in the US and Australia, and there is an interesting thread on the subject on the AM’s with PN Facebook page. It is a shame that after years of research to develop the test, it is not being used because of widespread ignorance of the condition. In fact, a lab in Australia has now stopped offering it because of the low take-up, which is a tragedy. Just because people are (were) not experiencing the condition doesn’t mean it isn’t there and it was only a matter of time before it reappeared. We are all in danger of becoming over-focussed on one condition, and the fact that one person on the PN page thread didn’t even know there was a test for CD and another believed that the PN test was the first Malamute DNA test to be made available, proves this point. Yes, we must test for PN. But let’s not forget the other conditions (and CD is just one). If a test is available, we should be using it, and not assuming that we don’t have to because the condition is not visible. How many of you can state the clinical status of your dogs with regard to CD?
