It seems that the people running F1 are more like politicians and hedge fund managers than people who are actuary interested in returning the sport to the undisputed prominence it once held. They keep talking about money savings out one side of their mouth by doing things like reducing testing and wind tunnel time. Things that impede the development of the cars and prevent the test drivers from needed time behind the wheel. Then they turn around and spend hundreds of millions of dollars on these new Power Units to replace the V8s that everyone loved and take even more away from the sport! Dont forget the phony nonsense of the DRS and now double points in the final race to add more excitement to the show! The cars keep getting slower and less capable. The balls out racing has been largely replaced with managing tire wear, managing fuel consumption as well as fuel flow rate, managing all the over complicated systems on the car, and seeking that perfect (not fastest) lap time that optimize all those artificial metrics that have become part of Formula One. No wonder they have lost nearly 20% of their audience in the last two years. Next year they may loose me as well. What a shame to go from an F1 Fanatic to being totally disgusted with the way this sport has been managed.
