It seems to me that art is as unnatural as you can get. Indeed it seems to me art is a protest against nature insofar as nature is something like a constraint. Culture is nothing but, in a sense the repetition of the artificial. I mean, in a sense, we We know that by definition the artificial is always a protest, the artificial is always a transgression. The artificial is, you know: going too far. What is it to go too far when actually whats happened is greater and greater kind of clarity That is the artificial, the sort of clarification with perverse: I mean the going too far, the taking of an action, or, a gesture, further than it has any purpose in doing, the bit that is too far is like pure gain for artifice, pure gain for transgression. It is not that art copies life, it is that, it is life that copies art. Art in this sense is the production of things that you can imitate.
