It takes 660 gallons of water to produce 1 hamburger. It takes 880 - TopicsExpress

It takes 660 gallons of water to produce 1 hamburger. It takes 880 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of milk. And if we implement every possible home water saving strategy listed on the government web site we can expect to conserve ...47 gallons of water a month. For some strange reason, avoiding animal foods isnt even mentioned, yet if you replaced a pound of beef, which requires 1,799 gallons of water, with a pound of soybeans, which requires 216 gallons of water, - a simplified example for which any bean would do - you could save 1,583 GALLONS OF WATER. Now, why doesnt the US government make these very simple and obvious recommendations as the UN has done - any guesses?
