It took me five and a half years but this weekend made it all worth it. Graduating with a degree in criminology from the best university in the nation is quite the privilege and I am now honored to call myself an FSU alumni. Along with that, it feels like just yesterday I started the police academy to begin pursuing my goal of becoming a police officer. By graduating from the academy and taking my state boards the same weekend as Florida State graduation I am now ready to protect and serve the people of the community. I do not take anything for granted because I do realize how lucky I am to have the support system I do. To my friends thank you for believing in me and helping me push through the hard times to reach where I am now, to my family, thank you for always supporting me in my decisions and constructively criticizing me in the mistakes I made instead of getting angry, my parents are a one of a kind couple and to put me through 5 years of college, not including the police academy, and not have any debt or loans I owe to the school is the gift of a life time, and lastly to my brother, where ever he may be, not a day goes by when I dont think about you. Not having you physically by my side this weekend to celebrate my accomplishments was very VERY hard because no matter how much you picked on me, or called me fat Jeff I knew you were doing it for a reason and you were only trying to make me a better/stronger person and believe me, it worked. People may not know this but before Scott passed away we had a conversation and he told how proud he was of me and so happy for me to be almost done with school. He said he didnt realize how soon I was going to be patrolling the streets. He also said he knew he made mistakes involving the law but there is no other profession he would want me to pursue, he said you will be a great cop and I cant wait for that time to come. Scott obviously said all of that with a huge smile on his face and I will never forget it. So thank you everyone for your continuous love and support and I hope to see everyone soon.
