It was a busy day for South Doyle Rugby (2 HS Boys Teams,1 HS Girls Team, 1 MS Boys Team). With lots of great rugby played throughout the day; the Kees were unable to advance any of our high school teams into the State Semi Finals. However, we are beyond proud to announce our First Middle School Rugby State Championship!! This is a huge day for the Future of SD Rugby!! After a disappointing day for our high school teams.....one these Seniors did not deserve, we can.... 1) Blame everyone and everything for our losses and show up to 15s Season HOPING the competition will get weaker, our luck will improve, and somehow teams will just hand us wins because we are South Doyle......? or 2) Hold ourselves accountable and not let this disappointment define who we are....instead let it motivate us to get better. Realize our best is not enough to win it all if we wait til game day to give it. Its not just playing our best every practice or working out 3 days a week; our best requires Mental Focus at every practice! Then we are TRAINING not PRACTICING for a State Title this spring!!! The difference between 2 good rugby teams, when competing at the highest level, comes down to a few crucial moments in the match when FOCUS is needed to take full advantage of an opportunity. Every match came down to which team took the most advantage of the few opportunities they had in the match. How do we practice FOCUS?........it starts in the classroom, that is where training for focus and discipline starts. You guys played some outstanding rugby today, Be proud not satisfied. Once again great job to the Middle School Guys you were impressive!!
