Heres a quick recap: -Elkin senior Annika Winebarger started the week off with a bang by bringing home the individual 1A/2A Golf State Championship Tuesday in Pinehurst. Teammate Mary Frances Hall finished second, while the Lady Elks finished third overall -Starmount volleyball captured the 1A State Championship with a sweep of Raleigh Charter in the title match Saturday in Raleigh. Senior Erin Barr was named MVP -Elkin boys raced to a 3rd-place team finish at states Saturday in Kernersville, finishing as the top public school. Jacob Parker earned All-State honors with a 9th-place finish -Elkin girls finished 6th at states Saturday in Kernersville - the highest finish in program history. Shakai Ward raced to a 7th-place finish to garner All-State honors -Elkin soccer notched its second-straight 9-0 mercy-rule victory in the 1A state playoffs Saturday to advance to the third round -Forbush soccer fell to West Caldwell, 4-0, in the second round on the road. The Falcons end their season at 15-4-1 -Mount Airy tennis breezed to its third-straight 1A tennis state title, blanking Raleigh Charter, 6-0, Saturday -The Junior Elk Junior Pee Wees notched their third-straight championship with a 24-6 triumph over Alleghany in the Super Bowl Saturday in Sparta. The Elks have won 29 of their last 30 games -The Junior Elks knocked off Ashe Purple, 25-12, to win the Pee Wee Super Bowl Saturday in Sparta -West Wilkes spoiled a Junior Elk three-peat, blanking Elkin in the Mighty Mite Super Bowl, 22-0
