It was a pretty dreich afternoon on the Black Isle today. However, I spent a really enjoyable couple of hours out in the garage splitting logs while listening to the radio. Normally, I would be listening to BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal - Caithream Ciùil (one of the best music programmes available); but when I heard that Julie Fowlis was a guest on the Janice Forsyth programme I stayed with Radio Scotland. And Im so pleased that I did for Julie was excellent both with her music (with the wonderful Duncan Chisholm and her other amazing instrumentalists) and her conversation. Then Janice played some songs from the great Pete Seeger who died today at the age of 94 years. As well as the great songs, she also played part of an interview she did with Pete Seeger 14 years ago; this was absolutely fascinating - what an amazing man he was! I so enjoyed the whole programme and it certainly threw me back to the days of my own youth as a student in Glasgow when the Seeger songs featured so prominently for us, particularly during the annual Students Charities events when we sang them with great enthusiasm. Ill definitely be listening again on iPlayer! bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03qgl6v
