It was a village affair………. Thank you McGregor! We are thrilled to announce that The McGregor Poetry Festival was an outstanding success! To Madie who calmly and efficiently handled all the tasks that landed on her desk and Gill, Fran and Anita who helped to man the doors. • A huge vote of thanks to McGregor Tourism for the use of the Tourism Office and staff. Gratitude to Mira and Rhowena for coping so well with the Computicket sales and for answering the million questions and queries that came your way! Thank you for all your assistance with publicity and marketing too. Thank you to Rob for your assistance with Computicket system in the Tourism office and for helping out in the background. • To Michael and Freddie for ‘giving’ us the use of Wahnfried for the weekend. What an amazing gift you have given to our village. Thank you to Hannelie and her daughters for making sure that everything was well looked after. Pat and Anthony, Paula and Ernest, Lizelle, Christine and Martyn for controlling the doors. • The screens at Wind Song were built and erected by Dawid from the Breede Skills Centre and the garden layout in Annie’s Garden was completed with the assistance of Esau, Leon and Desmond. Jane, Anne, Margaret, Maryka and Barbara assisted Annie and the Calligraphy work for the Haiku Exhibition was created and donated by Martyn. Pieter assisted with sound and he and Martyn helped with the tent ropes that snapped in the wind! • Thank you to Edna for allowing your gallery to be used as a venue and to Edma for assisting at the door. • Anette and Robert generously gave us Tanagra Wine and Guest Farm to be used as the quiz and workshop venue. Many thanks to Marilyn for preparing and conducting the very enjoyable quiz and to Tanagra for donating the prizes and complimentary wine. • Annelien really came to the party by opening The Villagers Restaurant for dinner and even provided her own impromptu concert! • To Glynn and Marlene at The Frangipani for hosting a delightful evening of entertainment by Emma Rycroft and Beatrice Willoughby. Aimee and Ryan who generously gave Ferrol-Jon the opportunity to provide dinner musical entertainment at Karoux. • A village highlight was the Robert Burns evening at Green Gables lovingly hosted by Jill and Tiger with poetic entertainment from Helen. Thank you for the attention to detail and fun and laughter. Another big bouquet to Miss Helen for giving her talented and delightful Waldorf Children the chance to perform for us. • Thank you to Herbie, Pieter and Briar for coming on board and hosting the workshop at the Breede Skills Centre. Warm appreciation to John for hosting another popular “Emile Minnie” concert at Wolfdoring and to Paul and Nina for the Poem Bowls event. Thank you to Suenel and Hester and Lies for opening your homes and hosting the unique Werfswerf event and to Dawid and your team – for participating in our Festival. • “Local is Lekker” - thank you to Carol and Kat for hosting this very popular event at Carol’s Pub and to John for providing fantastic late night refreshments and entertainment in The Old Post Office Pub. Day-time musical entertainment was given free-of-charge by The McGregor Brass Band, Edita Hof’s Violin Group, The Langeberg Steel Band and Robertson Harmonic Youth Band. Thank you! • Thank you to Langeberg Municipality for granting us the use of the old municipal offices which we turned into “Tuis Huis” for the weekend. Deep appreciation to Dave for assisting with transport and food items for the youth who attended the festival. Enormous thanks to everyone who was involved on Friday night to get the electricity supply up and running after the tree broke the cables, and to the street-sweepers who kept our village spick and span. • Thank you to Lord’s Winery and Jacie for sponsoring the wine for enjoyment inside and outside Tuis Huis (and some lucky people even got a few samples to take home!). Thank you to McGregor Winery for the donation of the magnificent Port – which warmed the hearts of many late night audiences. • AH Marais donated wood, paint, glue etc for the “Tuis Huis” make-over undertaken by Marinda and Lynette. The NG Kerk for the loan of tables and chairs, cutlery and crockery and the use of the church and toilets. • Soups for the poets were made by the poetry playmates and expertly served by Hannah and Surita with Anna in the background making vetkoek! To the Exclusive Books ladies for the great selection of books and to Jacques and Melane for helping out in the shop and front of house and assisting Marinda, Martyn and David with moving furniture. • Thank you to Pat and Anthony who donated soup for the Mother Tongue Project Group and to Mike at This ‘n That for assistance and advice with our printing and stationery needs. • To Martyn, Lizelle, Gill, Edma, Christine and Janet who helped to prepare the street posters – and to the bunting king and queens – Martyn, Lizelle and Gill! Then to the Temenos Staff, Martyn and David for putting up the posters and decorations and the municipality for erecting the banner at the entrance to McGregor. • Thank you to Fiona Cameron Consulting for the loan of the plastic name-tag holders and to Athol (and others) for taking photos and to the market folk for their market-fare! • Anita and Richard for being our roving media people. We appreciate the promptness of your newspaper articles and Face Book postings.
