A while back I posted the story of how my family believed our father was accidentally misidentified as an Irish baby shortly after he was born at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx in 1913. Last night my fathers nephew (of record) had a DNA match equivalent to a 2nd cousin. We made contact and quickly discovered that she had the mirror opposite story of mine. Instead of testing Ashkenazi, she found Irish and her father was born on the same day as Dad in the Bronx. We think its a mere formality, but were working, jointly, on obtaining her grandfathers birth certificate, which we expect will be stamped with Fordham Hospital. We are sure my grandparents are her paternal great-grandparents. The DNA is conclusive, but also the photographs of her father to my aunt and uncle are eerily similar. James Collins and Phillip Benson (surname changed from Peskin) ended up with the wrong families. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who offered help and suggestions. My family and I appreciate it beyond words.
