It was an extraordinary privilege and honor recently to be invited - TopicsExpress

It was an extraordinary privilege and honor recently to be invited to promenade through the garden courtyard of Isabella Stewart Gardners Venetian palace, Fenway Court as a muse for Bill Cunningham. As I left Pooles Corner, dressed in day wear c.1903 - befitting the fashion of original visitors to Mrs. Jacks house and museum, I picked up a few books from my parlor shelves that seemed appropriate for the moment. A photo captures me perusing an essay on Christiana Rossetti from Little Journeys To the Homes of Famous Women by Elbert Hubbard (The Knickerbocker Press, NY, 1897), and I loaned Joan DeGusto a signed edition of Joy & Power by Henry Van Dyke (printed in 1903 by D.B. Updike, The Merrymount Press, Boston). For 30 years I have wished to walk through these gardens rather than to just look from the surrounding cloistered halls. After a lovely lunch at the museum café, I accompanied the Bishops through the galleries, and we also made a short visit to the MFA to see the Lincoln Cathedral copy of the Magna Carta. A splendid day out for a group of history buffs!
