It was great being in the studio with creative folks tonight. The team is forming and were one step closer to making this tangible! Black light world vista, Wombology world of blindfolds and texture, terrariums, projections, nebula passageways, spinning inside spheres. Were just beginning to crystallize the experiences we want to create. Here are some clarifications I wish to convey both to those who couldnt make it tonight and to those who did. 1. The central part of the studio (inside the existing ring of lights) is the intergalactic/outer space area and the perimeter contains the planet areas which provide a variety of environments to experience. 2. When I say planets, think terrariums. When you are inside this terrarium, it is as if Scotty has beamed you to a location on another planet. Its sort of a theme camp, and it will most likely be a contained space with an opening to the central area to entice travellers to enter. It doesnt have to be complicated. If you are creating one of these terrariums, think about whether there might be inhabitants that interact with visitors 3. We will have only about 2 hours of setup time right before the dance. However, parts of installations that do not interfere with other events/general use of the building may be pre-installed - things that hang from the ceiling, for instance. Also, we can think about how we can prep outside the studio (like unloading stuff) before we get into the space. Doing as much prefab as possible in the weeks before the event will be the best strategy. 4. At this point Changing Room may sound like a myriad of ideas, but we will bring the keepers into harmony and shed the rest. Many hands make light work, and if an idea doesnt have enough implementers, we will let it go. Im hoping we can build on existing work, use what people have made for other events. 5. Lets have fun making this!
