It was just about this time of night 34 years ago that Mom and Cher walked through the front door and told me John Lennon had been shot. A little time passed before we learned hed been killed. A part of me died that night. Elton and Bernie wrote this song for John. Elton and John were friends. John joined Elton on stage the night that John and Yoko got back together.
