Matthew 5:46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you - TopicsExpress

Matthew 5:46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? In this chapter, Jesus is teaching his disciples to love not only the ones who loved them back, but also their enemies. Jesus always taught to consider others better than ourselves, to do the opposite of what we normally want to do. We tend to keep those we dont like out of our lifes, trying to pretend they dont even exist. At times, killing them in our hearts. How can we love those who hates us, that judge us. I sometimes use the excuse that I dont need drama in my life, Ive been hurt too much already to put up with more pain. But maybe, just maybe, most of that pain comes from my own desobidience to Jesus command. People in this world are not perfect, and Im the perfect example of that. But I tend to look at others faults, instead of mine. What does it say about me when Im hating my enemies? Who is my enemy? Maybe my own spouse, kids, brothers, sisters and other family members. An enemy is not always a stranger, but our own family. Us pushing people away says alot more about us, than about others, even though we blame others for our actions. I admit loving others is not always easy, but Jesus commands us. Am I perfect? Am I loveable always? Not a chance. But yet, Jesus loves me. So if Im not perfect, why does He love me? Cause thats His nature, God is love. I admit I dont understand that kind of love. A love that loves no matter what. Without expecting something in return. Jesus loves me whether I love Him or not. Who are you pushing away? Who are you trying to avoid in your life? If you love only those who love you back, what reward will you get? There is not sacrifice, no denying of yourself and no obedience to Jesus command when we love those who love us back. Reward, or blessing from God in our lifes comes from obeying His word. So I encourage you to search your heart, forgive those who have hurt you, ask forgiveness for your own mistakes, and love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus help us all to follow your perfect example.
