With the first snow of the year resting peacefully. I was reminded of this picture. This picture was taken in 1964 and was quite possibly the first snow of my young life. I lived the first ten years in this old farmhouse. Built in 1898 by John Cleaves as a wedding gift for his son, the garage and back room of the house were originally hen houses. There was a stream that flowed through the basement as snow melted each spring and the crawl space beneath the backroom was a treasure trove of old bottles, many ordained with the skull and cross bones. The right upstairs window was my winter room. My summer room, which had no heat, but was out of the summer sun, was at the rear of the house. Sitting on Oak Hill Rd at the end of Pinnacle Rd, this house has had so many additions and renovations that it is essentially unrecognizable today.
