It was lovely to see so many people turn up to our storyround last night, including around 6 Word of Mouth virgins who all seemed determined to come again -result! Thanks to Steven for his brilliant and spooky Welsh story of long-ago conflict with the English, Monologue John Bartleys splendid recitation of The Lifeboat by George Robert Sims, Helen Palmers excellent tale of Silvertree and Goldentree, Sharons eccentric and funny story of a somewhat off-beat love story, and Russells self penned sci-fi tale of bodily implants that never quite live up to their reputation. We also passed round some pieces of 1000 year old yew, now sadly separated from the original tree, and talked about its folklore, and possible stories, and heard the bizarre account of a train journey on the Orient Express in the 1960s. Ms Helen C. Stewart treated us to part to of her Russian epic and left us dangling in anticipation for the finale, which we will hear at the next Storyround! A wonderfully wide-ranging selection of ancient and modern.
