It was my Mothers Ham, with its sticky glaze, and the way that my Pappy was still able to use *his* Mothers old electric knife, and his remaining hand strength, to carve it...It was the 3 different room-temperature casseroles of a vegetable floating in cheese sauce and Ritz crackers...It was the semi-controlled chaos of the sugar-laden kids zipping about as the Big Kids toss dirty corn bags at a wobbly, wooden board...It was the pictures...It was seeing the gleam in my Mothers eyes...It was the hiding of plastic eggs and the raw excitement of being a sugar-laden kid...It was the weather...It was the place...It was the people...It was perfect and priceless...It was Family Day. Yesterday was the first time that I actually took a REAL day off since I officially opened my business...Yesterday, reminded me that even God took a day off to enjoy the life that comes from our/his creations...What good is the work if you cant enjoy it with the family that you are working for?...Yesterday, really drove it home...Literally... So...On Easter Sunday, 2014...I decided that Bailey-Q will now, and forever, be closed on Sundays...All of them...No matter how big we get, or small we stay, Sunday is Family Day...I remembered that I actually like, love, and care about all of those sugar-laden kids and seeing Pappy want to use his Mothers old carving knife...I like throwing dirty corn bags in the general direction of a wobbly wooden board during semi-controlled chaos...I like eating cold-cheesy casseroles with Ritz crackers...I LOVE that gleam that my Mom gets in her eyes...I LOVE MY FAMILY...They are perfect and priceless...Looking forward to next Sunday...Bailey-Q will be closed.
