It was my disturbing pleasure to speak with a friend of mine - TopicsExpress

It was my disturbing pleasure to speak with a friend of mine today. During the conversation we migrated, as we do, through differing topics. At one point during the conversation the topic of slavery came up. As he is of African descent and I am of Irish descent, our conversation grew more personal. He is a gentleman and a scholar. He is a man of impeccable character and honor. I was unaware of his ignorance to this issue. As is usually the case, men and woman of African descent take very personally the issue of slavery. And for good reason. The plight of the African slave is well documented and known and should be remembered and recanted as often as we wake. However, there is, in my opinion, and as demonstrated in my conversation today, a lack of awareness to the plight of the Irish in relation to the slave trade of the 17th century. For those who are interested I have posted the following link. globalresearch.ca/the-irish-slave-trade-the-forgotten-white-slaves/31076
