It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, running - TopicsExpress

It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, running 26.2 miles. I was really hoping that something like this would never happen again. My Uncle Phil was admitted to the ICU with pneumonia and his condition was not improving. This went on for days and recently, my family and I just found out he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It really is confusing how this all happened. My Uncle Phil is one hardcore cross country mountain biker, healthier than ever and only in his 40s. I told myself I never wanted to run another full marathon ever again, but never said I wasnt willing to. Running a marathon is going to cure his cancer? No, sadly it isnt. But what it will do is spark his spirits, keep his head up high and make him stay strong. I look forward to finishing my 2nd marathon and personally giving him the medal I will be receiving. Were all affected by these tragic news but it doesnt mean we all shouldnt be strong. For him to be strong my family and I need to be strong. What can I do to make things better? I cant do anything, I cant magically cure him. Maybe it sounds stupid, running a marathon for someone, and so does going through all the pain of running that far can never compare to the pain he will have to endure during his fight, but at least its something. To my family members who will see this, and those of you with him now, please show him and stay strong. Cancer isnt just something you can fight with modern medicine, not at all. Ive discovered that finishing a marathon is all mental. Finishing the fight can too. We all love you Uncle Phil. Were all here with you and will never leave your side.
