It was the Liberals who cleared the Hawke/Keating debt and restored the AAA rating. When the ALP speak you can pretty much ignore what they say, they often skirt the truth and usually tell outright lies. The election result, the $350 billion debt, the business closures, the rising unemployment and the out of control spending tell the story of the ALPs economic legacy. Economic confidence in the nation went up when the Liberals were returned to power. Swan knows this of course but he also knows the ALP faithful will lap up whatever he says. HE Coalition could endanger the nation’s AAA credit rating by “falsely demonising” Labor’s economic legacy, Wayne Swan has claimed.
