It was unfortunate (but certainly not surprising) that we were not - TopicsExpress

It was unfortunate (but certainly not surprising) that we were not let into the hall that was reserved for the self-proclaimed PM. Most were hoping to engage with him through civil discourse and to at least see that he is staying true to his vision of returning Fiji to a truly democratic state by letting every concerned Fijians have a go at him with some fairly harmless questions. I guess the guards at the door were convinced that a bunch of peaceful freedom fighters were out to put his head on the guillotine when really the only potential harm that could have been inflicted was having their dictators ego and lies being challenged in a somewhat free and objective environment. Managed to haul a few young people out there to participate in this demonstration and to really be a voice for those that have been unfairly silenced back home with the intimidation tactics being leveled at the people by this regime. Mr. Dictator sir, all we wanted to do was ask (among other things) why isnt Jone Tamaniraramas scholarship reinstated for participating in an activity that you and your pitiful constitution actually encouraged the people to do? (Section 23 of the constitution: empowers all citizens of Fiji to be affiliated with any political party they want to). Why isnt there a caretaker govt in place to guide us in this endeavor towards democracy? why does AG being the secretary of Fiji First also hold the title of Minister of elections isnt that a conflict of interest? Why is there still media censorship? You cannot claim to be in the ranks with other democracies if you deprive people of their fundamental rights! Also thanks to those of you who showed your true colors today by once again catering to the very person thats continually oppressing the people back home. Easy for you to sit up on your high horse and tabetabe to him while the real hardworking people are bearing the brunt of this evil dictatorship back home. Anyways, thats my rant for the day....e sega ni ura me tei damu nikua!!! TOSO VITI!
