It wasnt last week, it was the week before. It was... stupendous! It was a week that was so much fun, Natalie and I find ourselves still talking about it. We went to Minnesota!!! Well, thats not the exciting part. WE WENT TO CAMP!!! As a matter of fact... I WAS THE SPECIAL GUEST TEACHER AT A CAMP FOCUSED ON ONE OF MY GREATEST LOVES!!! Clowning. :) For those not in the know, Patricia Manuel has spent nearly a decade and a half passionately creating and growing her very own training program - Mooseburger Camp. Despite its silly name, she seriously trains people from around the world in the many aspects of clowning. From the novice who likes to visit family gatherings, to the professional who takes the stage, shes fostered an environment that is unparalleled. Not only does she have a phenomenal staff, the attendees are a tight-knit family, ready to embrace any and all newcomers. Natalie and I didnt feel like guests - we felt like SPECIAL guests. Id say my very favorite part of the whole experience was getting to teach and perform along side several who taught me at the very beginning of my career. Greg & Karen DeSanto, Karen Bell and, one of the greatest influences in my formative performing years, Robin Eurich. To be able to come together with them, and show them what Id done with their advice, made me proud. We took the stage the very first night and performed for the students. I didnt realize how much Id missed performing! It was an other-worldly experience to make an audience laugh and see my former teachers cheering me on from the back! Patricia invited me to teach artists of various levels of experience an art I love, while also giving me the a lifetime of memories. I was able to work with former Ringling clowns Neal Skoy (and boss clown) Christopher Hudert, as well as visit with fellow blue-unit alum, Gregory Parks. Natalie and I made new life-long friendships with Rex Nolen, Emily DeSanto and Terry & Debbie Ricketts. Theres too much to share, and this is already so long, but I want to say a MILLION thank-yous to Patricia. Ill forever sing the praises of her work and her camp and I CAN NOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH! If you want to know more about it, please contact me and Ill give you reason after reason why you should attend. This post is so long - Ill have to write another one in a few days, telling you about some specific moments.
