It would be nice to pull up to a stop light or go through a drive through without having somebody beg for my money. I know Im a dick. Certainly not all of them are scammers, but I know for a fact a lot of them are. Ive seen plenty of them pulling their cars in the parking lot, getting out and walking to the corner unfolding their sign as they go. A lot of my better dressed than me. There are some, like a couple that used to stand up near braker and 35 that I know were homeless and I know help, so I would do things like buy them dinner and stuff. But then there are also guys like the one I saw in a wheelchair going up a hill toward the corner. He got tired of pushing with his arms so he turned the wheel chair around and pushed it up the hill with his legs, sitting down the whole time. I want to help, but scammers like the wheelchair guy and the I just ran out of gas guy and need your help to buy gasoline person ruin it and make me very unsympathetic.
