Its All About The Blood! And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words. Exodus 24:8 KJV In this scripture we see Moses sprinkling blood on the people as part of the covenant God made with the Israelites. Prior to this God told Moses bring the Priest and leaders of the nation of Israel to the foot of the mountain, but they were not allowed to touch the mountain. The people told Moses that they understood and would obey the word of the Lord. Moses wrote down The things God had given him, built and altar and had the young men to offer burnt offerings and peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. Moses then read the Word of God to the people and they once again said they would obey. Then we come to todays Scripture. We see that Moses took blood and sprinkled it on the people. In the Bible blood is used as a cleansing agent. It was used to sanctify and dedicate the Tabernacle and all of the articles in it the first time it was set up. The blood is still used as a cleansing agent, but we are under a new covenant. It is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us of all of our sins. We need the blood of Jesus because the blood of bulls and goats didnt remove the sin, it only atoned or covered the sins. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. It is under this new covenant that our sins are removed. John the Baptist declared this in John 1:29 which states The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. When we look at this verse of scripture we understand what John is saying, but when those words were first spoken the only one who understood who Jesus was is John the Baptist. There is another place we will see blood being on people, but they didnt realize all that was being said or done at the time it was spoken. Just before Jesus was crucified Pilate tried to set Him free, but the people insisted Jesus be crucified. Then you see the following; When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. (Matthew 27:24-25) The people didnt realize it but they were prophesying over themselves the purpose that Jesus came into the world, as it is the blood of Jesus that was shed to cleanse us of our sins. It was not only shed for the sins of those at the cross, but for the sins of all mankind. 1 John 1:7 states, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Its all about the blood! The blood can only cleanse us if we receive Jesus as Saviour and Lord then we are under the blood. Receive Jesus today and be cleansed from all sin and then you will have eternal life. May the peace and love of God be with you always!
