Its Ash Wednesday...any of you celebrating or giving anything up for Lent?!?! I always have since I was a kid & this year it is a family affair. Heres our list. Its going to be hard :> 1. NO FAST FOOD. Im going to enjoy cooking again & pre-planning meals. Weve gotten lazy and the amount of money we spend each week we could do something really fun as a family. 2. NO COMPLAINING. We tend to always complain about all the small little things that are going on around us instead of all the things we should feel blessed about. Work, house, cars, body image, ect. Kids are picking up on it & I dont like it one bit. 3. SAY 3 NICE THINGS TO EACH OTHER EVERY DAY. I think this one is going to be harder than it sounds. Not just the easy Thank you, You look nice, ect. Out of the box things. Thanks for helping me get the kids ready this morning.. Thank you for picking up without me having to ask.. The little things count so much and are just nice to hear. 4. NO EATING AFTER DINNER. Ummmmmmm, Im the worst grazer on planet earth. We are all actually big snackers in our house. Going to be hard this 1st week!!! 5. REPLACING 30 MINUTES OF BEING PLUGGED IN FOR 30 MINUTES OF BEING UNPLUGGED EACH NIGHT BEFORE BED. Im really looking forward to this one :) OK, so what are you guys doing now that I have rambled on?!?! Of course we are going to continue to also remember what Lent is all about. ‘Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. Today, Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or volunteering and giving of themselves for others. The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan. Sundays in Lent are not counted in the forty days because each Sunday represents a “mini-Easter” celebration of the Jesus’ victory over sin and death.. Just in case you didnt know ;)
