Its August 1, 2014 and Im here celebrating my grandson Michael Elmores 19th birthday - quite a few months late but we are having an outstanding time together! Last night after we arrived at my home in Arlington TX, he shared with me how very much he loved his grandmother - more than anyone else ever in his life - and how much love she gave him over the years!.Nobody quite loved me or understood me the way she did. Talking to her was always my remedy of solving problems. I know its not meant for her to be here but damn I wish i could share this beautiful life Im living with her. I can feel her watching over me and I just hope everything I accomplish in life will make her proud.. My grandmother will always be my rock. Per Michaels request, published below for the very first time, is the video of the Celebration of Life for Judy Bethune held 8 years ago on the island of Kauai - Judys Island of Love. The occasion was also her 25th wedding anniversary with myself, her husband, Jock. We had hoped to renew our vows on our 25th anniversary on Kauai with our friends there. Following her untimely death in September 2005, I knew immediately I had to celebrate her life on that date and on Kauai. Heres the text of her Kauai obituary published July 26, 2006 in The Garden Island Newspaper along with her photo: Judy Bethune, long time Kauai visitor and Coco Palms returnee, died unexpectedly at her home in Arlington TX on September 23, 2005. A celebration of Judys life will be held at 5:00PM Tuesday, August 1, 2006 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, at Lydgate Park where the river meets the sea on the occasion of her 25th wedding anniversary to her husband, Jock. Following the celebration service, a social gathering will be held at Lydgate Park. All are welcome to both events. For further information, contact Larry Rivera at 822-3868 or Jock Bethune (Kaua‘i cell phone) at 817-946-JUDY(5839). Judy carried the aloha spirit deep within her heart and shared it openly with others wherever she would go. Our aloha is with you, Judy, for aloha is love and love is God! May all that you gave us be forever aloha!! The Celebration ceremony was put together and hosted by Jock and Judys dear friend, Larry Rivera, one of Kauais Living Treasures, along with Larrys daughter Ilima. In attendance: Keith Bethune (Jock and Judys nephew from Honolulu) and the following members of our Coco Palms ohana (family): Larry and Gloria Rivera, Ilima Rivera and her children, Big John Kauo (another Kauai Living Treasure), his wife Marlene, their daughter Maile, Cecilia CD Dana, Lilia Vasquez, Ruthie and Glenn Carvahlo, George Costa, Anita Ragsac, Isaac Poe, Pearl Melandish, Pat Banishan, Tom and JoLynn Babauta and Father Ralph (St Catherines Church).
