Its a balmy late summers evening, its a quiet house hold setting, suddenly the phone rings. The occupants are relaxed and chatting and the incessant ringing, rings through to their psyche and the mood changes! They look at each other bemused, confused and concerned! A member of this small but tight community shrieks, noooo and runs to another room holding their head in a way that would suggest extreme pain. The tension is increased with the remaining members. The eldest member of this gathering sighs a very long exasperated sigh and says, aagh fecksake it can it be,to Christ like, surly? its awkward, the ringing continues, almost getting louder but no one touches the source! The youngest trys to change the subject and the focus of the group..., the ringing continues now to a point of urgency that the people of Berlin would have experienced almost 70 years ago, blinding life threatening fear! the ringing continues!! at this point the matriarch of the group shouts, fooksake its always me!!!, gets up and briskly marches across the room..the guilt is palpably and noticeable, the shame is not discussed. hi? can be heard in a soft and loving way, the group look at each other so guiltily. The voice which answered can be heard agreeing, the body language is affable, the group relax. its the type of sudden relaxation by a family that would have been common for a brief lull in bombing in Gaza.... the group strain to ear the tiny electronic voice spill out from the listeners ear piece, its a familiar voice. the voice is explaining times, distances, weather reports, complications, computations, sensibilities, arrangements.........the Gardi are now knocking at the door shouting in the letterbox.....hello, is everyone ok?..Cathal Tormay stands up unashamedly and says, its Grand Dad, Meath are playing Armagh tomorrow, he just wants to be prepared.....
