Its a bittersweet day. Today, my husband checked out of the Marine Corps. Tonight will be the first night of the rest of our lives together. We wont have to sleep in two different states, two different beds, two different countries....We wont have to struggle with bad internet connections after weeks of not being able to talk at all... We wont have to send pictures to remind the other what we look like and to prove that we havent changed. LIfe is going to become somewhat normal finally. And, the best word I have to describe it is BITTERSWEET. Its been a long and hard four years, but unlike many couples, we made it through. Weve heard countless times that we shouldnt let this journey end, but youll never understand unless youve been there. My husband was an infantryman, he was at the top of the scared wife, worry list. And now, he has a family. He has more than a girlfriend, best friend, or wife to live for. He now has someone to carry on his name, and to always look up to him. He has a son. So, all comments to yourself, four years is enough for us. Hes sacrificed more than many his age already. He decided for himself and ultimately chose his family. Now, we get to be a normal family. Most of you dont know what its like to just wish you were normal. To long to be able to go to work everyday and come home to your family, cook dinner together, give your children a bath, say nighttime prayers face to face instead of over the phone, and head to bed together. We are beyond blessed to have stayed strong and made it this far, and we are extremely glad its finally come to an end. Tonight, we will count our blessings as we eat supper together and go to bed as a family. I couldnt of asked for a better husband. Four years down, one dream accomplished together, and millions and millions times infinity to go. I love you babe, and congratulations.
