Its a long one, but this feedback regarding a recent stay at Gamekeepers Cottage epitomises the experience we hope all of our guests have of the area. I didnt want to give any positive feedback about Gamekeeper’s Cottage because when you think about it, it would be a stupid thing to do. Im a city boy and seeing a sunrise is unusual unless you catch one from behind a high rise or office block. To see one over the green hills in the garden of the cottage was stunning. To see sheep, cattle and horses grazing around you each day while pheasant call to each other is bliss. To have the locals say hello and ask how you are when they dont know you from Adam is incredible and warming. To know that youre minutes away from the Scottish border and have even more beauty thrown into your lap is awesome. To take a twenty minute drive to the coast through coffee book photographed landscape is breathtaking. Turning corners and finding amazing history, starting with the fields of Flodden, is astounding.To return to a cottage and have a real log burning fire in a cosy living room, followed by sleep in snug bedrooms with soft and lovely bedding is just heaven. So you see my dilemma. Why would I want others to know about this place? Why would I want to hinder my chances of getting into Gamekeepers Cottage again? Its ridiculous, so if anybody asks, I had a terrible time!
